UPDATE: 06.04.20

CBC Family,

As you know the Deacons met this week and have decided that we are going to move forward with a church reopening strategy that we believe is careful, measured, and, most of all, safe.

We take your personal safety seriously at CBC and want to take Jesus’ command to love our neighbors seriously, too.

In Phase One, which begins this Sunday, June 7, we plan on having a 10:30 am worship service on our church campus.

For this phase, we will not have Sunday School Classes; we will simply meet for worship and then adjourn. Pews will be marked off so congregants can observe social distancing. Additionally, we will avoid shaking hands, utilize an offering box instead of passing the plate, and will have hand sanitizer stations at the sanctuary door entrances.

Please consider wearing a mask for our service, and enter through the sanctuary doors (or the elevator door, if you need it). Also, be sure to use the restroom before you come. Our restrooms will only be used in case of emergencies.

Unfortunately, during this Phase One, we will not be offering childcare but will encourage families to worship together, as recommended by the Alabama Baptist State Convention.

This Phase One will likely continue until Governor Kay Ivey’s "Safer at Home" Order is lifted on July 3. At that point, the Deacons will assess the situation again.

Be in prayer for our church in these exciting days. I look forward to seeing many of you, Sunday. However, I do want to emphasize this: Gathering as a church body during this pandemic does entail risk. If you do not feel comfortable gathering at this time, know that we will continue to offer our Facebook LIVE services online at Stay home and do not feel judged. Our number one priority is keeping you and our community safe.

I know the best days for CBC are ahead. I look forward to seeing how God works in this reopening.

See you soon,

Pastor Chris Wells
